Your situation
Pipes carrying oil or liquefied gas are under high pressure. Retrofitting a flow meter to them can therefore be rather challenging. This is made even more difficult by the toxic and hazardous conditions found inside the pipe.

Furthermore, oil drilling, distribution and processing facilities are often exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions as they can be found on offshore platforms or in desserts. This imposes great demands on every equipment used in this industry.

With these circumstances in mind clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters from U-F-M B.V. / Ultrasonic Flow Management are ideal solutions for flow metering applications within the oil and gas industry.

No contact, no pressure drop, no leakage
Every clamp-on flow meter of the U-F-M KATflow series can be installed to pipelines of any common material including duplex stainless steel and lined pipes. As the ultrasonic sensors are installed to the pipes by clamping them onto their surface, there is no need to open them and, as a consequence, no costly downtimes, no risk of leakage or contamination and no pressure drop at any time.

Any liquid, any diameter, any material
The sensors cover pipe diameters from 10 mm up to over 6000 mm (0.4” > 118”) and withstand pipe temperatures of up to 200 °C and more. They are capable of measuring through pipe walls of any thickness including very thick-walled steel conduits (SCH XXS).

The U-F-M B.V. clamp-on flow meters can measure crude oil of any API gravity and any liquefied hydrocarbon in single-path as well as in multi-path modes.

In addition to that, U-F-M B.V. flow meters can also be used to monitor the flow of liquids related to the oil and gas exploration and pro-cessing such as methylamine, triethylene glycol, methanol, water and produced water. The latter is particularly important to guarantee the compliance of offshore drilling facilities with the OPPC (Oil Pollution Prevention and Control) regulations.

Safe, sturdy, smart
As required by the oil and gas industry, U-F-M B.V. offers flow meter solutions for permanent installation in hazardous areas: The trans-mitter enclosure and clamp-on sensors of the KATflow 150 Ex are ATEX approved for installation in Zones 1 and 2.

Due to the ultrasonic measurement technique, there are no moving parts which could corrode, wear out or be blocked. Additionally, both the U-F-M KATflow 150 Ex transmitter enclosure and clamp-on sensors are manufactured of stainless steel and have a high IP rating. These features give the U-F-M KATflow 150 Ex the ability to be operated within extreme atmospheric conditions as found on offshore platforms and desserts which include massive
fluctuations in temperature as well as high levels of saline, sand and humidity.

The process input, output and serial interface options available on the U-F-M KATflow 150 Ex enable it to be easily embedded into process control systems. As additional feature, Katronic offers a non-invasive concentration measurement function for the U-F-M KATflow 150 Ex.
